Portread is a band that, since beginning its journey in 2013, has created music with a big heart and a clear goal: to push the boundaries of traditional metal by blending melodies and rhythms, diverse instruments, and hauntingly beautiful female vocals. Along this creative path, Portread has been joined by talented musicians, metalheads, rock and metal enthusiasts… you name it. Every one of them has left an indelible mark on both our hearts and the hearts of our fans. A deep bow of gratitude to them all!
Now, a new era of Portread has begun. Faster. Heavier. More powerful.
Since the end of 2024, our new lineup has finally allowed us to return to the stage several times and share our music once again with both old and new fans. It’s an incredible feeling… and it’s absolutely awesome to know that you’re still with us!
But what’s even more important, more powerful, and more exciting is this: Portread will soon be releasing a brand-new album, and the launch of its first single will take place on November 14, 2025, at a concert held at The Krypt – Spooky Bar & Stage.

Murx – Wizard of Melodies and Harmonies
Part of Portread since 2017.
A listener of Prog, Power, Death, Black, Heavy, Experimental, Melo-Death, and even Classical music, Murx has been an irreplaceable creator of melodies and harmonies within Portread. A metalhead at heart and former guitarist of Instigator of Grief and Catafalc, Murx is, without a doubt, in our opinion, an incredibly gifted architect of Portread’s new sound.
Dear Portread fans, mark our words: Murx crushes and lifts your hearts with his pain-inked emotional melodies and solos.
And as he likes to say himself:

Ragnar – Slayer of Riffs
Portread’s newest member since early 2024.
Thanks to Murx, this immensely talented, ambitious, and phenomenal guitarist joined Portread. We can’t deny it — with Ragnar came a fresh breath of modern metal influences, and we absolutely love it. His crushing riffs, meticulously played parts, countless suggestions, and creative ideas have undoubtedly received a warm welcome within Portread.
Tom – Lord of the Bass
The paths of Portread and bass enthusiast Tom crossed in 2020, and from that moment onward, Portread’s sound became deeper, heavier, and more powerful.
A dedicated metalhead since 1984, inspired by Melodic Death Metal, Progressive Death Metal, and Thrash Metal, Tom brings not only endless stage energy and infectious optimism but also serves as the vital connection between Portread’s rhythms and guitar harmonies. His uniquely low-tuned sound and thunderous bass riffs add masterful layers to our music that hit every listener right in the chest.

Mel – Portread’s founder.
It’s fair to say that for the past 13 years, Portread’s heart has beaten to the rhythm of his drums and fills. The lyrics he writes are direct and uncompromising, and every song’s “muse” is carefully chosen to ensure that no story goes untold, no sin or vice goes unnoticed, and no battle remains unfought.
A former member of Obscured, one of Estonia’s first atmospheric death metal bands, and a devoted lover of symphonic metal, Mel is both the driving force behind Portread and one of its most passionate believers.

Jev – THE New Voice of Portread
Her dedication, fearlessness, and willingness to experiment with vocals have been a huge surprise to all of us and are helping shape the new sound of Portread.
Honestly, we could never have imagined her singing metal or commanding the stage while holding everyone’s attention — but damn… she does it every single time, and she absolutely loves it.
So do we.
Jev also brings influences from a wide range of musical styles, enriching our sound in ways we’ve rarely heard elsewhere and helping create something truly unique.
